Derry City Council Offices
This was the first civic building to be located along the riverside and was a most positive contribution to the regeneration of the city’s river edge.
The brief was to design new council offices for 147 staff who were dispersed in different buildings throughout the city. Parking had also to be provided for 120 cars.
The form of the offices took some of its inspiration from an old warehouse recently demolished and given a modern interpretation. The building uses natural materials – granite cladding and natural slates with an imposing central entrance hall glazed at both ends to allow views through to the river.
