Chalet Housing At Magilligan Point, Co Derry

This project consisted of 7 new build chalet homes at Magilligan Point, Co Derry, adjacent to the beach. The client was a private developer.

The proposed use of the housing was to act as Holiday Homes, nestled close to the waters edge sheltered by the sand dunes to the rear. The new buildings were based on a simple vernacular plan arrangement with the house staggered to provide definition and articulation to each two house unit. The buildings were further individualised through the use of primary colours applied to window cills, entrance doors and the decorative window shutters to ground floor.

In addition to these new chalet dwellings, a new detached house was also constructed on the adjacent site. This dwelling was to be occupied by the developer himself. The building provided continuity with the chalet houses through the use of natural materials, colour and fenestration.

The entire scheme was completed in 2004.
